ABOUT DR. NABIL EL-HAG

Scientist, Olympian, executive, entrepreneur. And his own longest-running experiment.

In his teens, Dr. Nabil El-Hag was Egypt’s national judo champion and a member of its Olympic team. He took gold at seventy-eight and is training for a world championship at eighty. Always a competitor, he believes the journey is more important than the destination.

He holds a PhD and a Master of Philosophy in Nutritional Biochemistry and a Master of Science in Microbiology from Rutgers University, an MBA from Fordham University, and completed Columbia University’s Executive Management Program.

At General Foods, he was an international business development executive and innovator, earning the Chairman’s Award, a Clio Packaging Award, a DuPont Award for Packaging and a National Food Processing Award. He has more than twenty patents and scientific publications, including a peer-reviewed article in Science. He went on to found several companies working across the Middle East, Africa and Southeast Asia, and has advised public and private corporations. He co-founded Tecport Vision, where he serves as chairman and managing director, and is vice chairman of Tecport Optics. He is also a co-founder of Avulux. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted Avulux De Novo authorization, creating the first lens classification for migraine-associated light sensitivity. Avulux is the first and only FDA De Novo authorized precision optical filter, indicated to decrease the impact of light sensitivity in patients diagnosed with episodic migraine aged 12 years and older. Marquis Who’s Who has recognized him among its Top Business Owners.
